William E. Blackstone

Recommendation:   5/5

Description of author:  William E. Blackstone (1841-1935) was a businessman and layman in the Methodist Episcopal Church.  He founded the Chicago Hebrew Mission in 1887.

Comments:  This book, first published in 1878, is a good introduction to the Premillennial understanding of Christ’s return.  The great advantage of this book is that it is generally non-technical and fairly easy to understand.  It also has an abundance of Scripture references both in the text and in the footnotes.  In fact, all the footnotes are Scripture references and the Scriptures are printed out in full so they don’t have to be looked up.  There is also a Scripture index.  If you don’t know a lot about the doctrine of the Return of Christ this would be a good place to start.
